THE LOCATION
After what has felt like years of searching for the venue that felt like a ‘full body YES’, we came across - in a way that was quite serendipitous - the very special Amassa place. Amassa is an old stone built hamlet, situated down a quiet wooded track in the heart of rural South-West France, with views over the surrounding valleys. With two stunning, light filled spaces for practice, two pools and 6 hectares of garden, woods, fruit trees and green open spaces, it really is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the beauty of retreat life. The hamlet consists of a collection of cottages, which all have their own kitchenette, lounge area and garden, every room also has an ensuite. The entire space is beautifully designed with a blend of old french rustic charm and contemporary finishes. You’ll wake up naturally to the song of birds and gentle russell of trees, find plenty of little corners to nap in the hammocks, journal on the grass, read your book by the pool or take a walk amongst the trees. In the balmy summer evenings, we’ll eat alfresco around a big farmhouse table family style, with a classic French wine, watching the sunset.

THE PRACTICES
Tayler’s entire life is inspired by and led from the wisdom of yoga. Her practice is living, breathing and embodied; it allows her to navigate both the beauty and complexity of this life. It is from a place of deep reverence and devotion that she is a facilitator. Her practices are guided from the heart and the knowing that each body in the space is already completely Whole, yet completely unique. Her practices are often inspired by nature's elements and are about guiding people back to the felt sense of their own aliveness and the deep stillness of their natural, unconditioned state.
For Tayler, movement and stillness are both doorways to freedom and her teaching is supported and inspired by 1000s of hours of training across Yoga (vinyasa, ashtanga vinyasa, hatha, restorative), Pilates (mat & reformer), somatics, myofascial release and the luminous philosophy of non-dual shaiva tantra that supports most of her life.
On retreat, Tayler weaves the teachings of yoga into movement, breath and stillness, so that one can feel them as a moving energy (prana) in the body. When we move with the teachings of yoga, we are able to understand them not just intellectually but directly and experientially.
On this retreat practices will include vinyasa, pilates, elemental yoga flow, meditation, restorative, barre and mixed movement, journaling, sound. Tayler will also lead an additional workshop. We also have an INCREDIBLE guest teacher Amina leading you some of the practices. The practices will be inspired by Joy, so expect plenty of energising, dynamic and playful practices, as well as ones that are deeply restful and restorative. We will meditate every morning to the sweet sounds of mother nature.
THE ACCOMMODATION
THE FOOD / MELIS
Hosting retreats, supper-clubs and events is Melis’ passion-project, alongside a day job working as a Sustainability Consultant. She has always loved cooking and hosting, growing up in a household with a Turkish mother who did both of these on both nights of almost every weekend. It has been a foundational part of her childhood and something that continues to bring her so much joy. Hosting these retreats, however, goes beyond a love of cooking and good food – co-creating the space for guests to have an unforgettable experience is where the partnership between Tayler and Melis really comes alive. They are aligned on what they value, their attention to detail and their hopes for how each retreat will be received is what has allowed them to work so beautifully together.
What you can expect is a sense of being held and of community, but also of introspection and time to unwind. And of course, a lot of laughter! Movement and mealtimes anchor each day on retreat, but there is so much more on offer. The food Melis serves doesn’t follow a specific blueprint, other than it is always seasonal, colourful and with lots of diversity. Everything is made from scratch and inspired by Mediterranean flavours and cooking methods. The freshest fruits and vegetables (many of which will come straight from the garden!) will form the basis of delicious salads, dips and summer-y pastas, not to mention grilled fish, freshly baked goods and of course local French wines.
